Handpercussion Birds, Waterfall, Roar, Night
These Meinl classics create strikingly realistic imitations of a flock of birds in flight or a rippling waterfall.
At first glance, the instrument appears to be only different in color. But, upon closer inspection,
the sound bowls of both models have different sizes and thicknesses.
This produces the difference in sound.
By using premium fiberglass, instead of the traditional fruit-bowl rattles of similar authentic instruments,
a much brighter sound is produced, the dynamic range is increased, and optimum durability is realized.

Meinl offers two popular models which create different sound effects.
Those who prefer the original warm sound will like the wooden style (available in amber).
Meinl´s second model is constructed using premium fiberglass resonator plates fixed to the wooden resonator body (available in black).
The sound is dryer and louder.

When playing The Night, four solid steel balls hit a cylindrical metal rod in quick succession producing the unique sound of crickets.
The popularity of this instrument is due primarily to this realistic imitation of nighttime crickets.
With the well balanced grip, The Night can be held perfectly.
